• Alvaro Siza (Pritzker prize winner, RIBA Gold-medalist, UIA Gold-medalist sept 2011), and Juan Herreros (project shortlisted for European Union
Prize for Contemporary Architecture and Mies van der
Rohe Award 2009) announced as runners-up.
• The Award, which is one of the most important and
prestigious Spanish prizes for new architecture, is
awarded to built works completed in Mallorca within the previous four years.
• This self-sufficient modern country house finds inspiration for contemporary life and sustainable design
in the historic context of rural Mallorca
• The House in a Fig Orchard was unanimously selected by a national jury praising the project's spatial ingenuity and relationship to nature.
